Pre-Kindergarten has been working on Patriotic Books this week.  Do you know who the first president of the United States was?  What character trait was he known for?  What job did he have before he was president?  Can you name the 16th president of the United States?  Where did he live?  Did he know how to read?  What made him such a popular president?  Can you say the pledge to the American flag and the Christian flag?  These are only a few of the foundations we are laying for our children to learn about our country and our history.  What are you teaching your child about America?  Now is the time to share in their enthusiasm for learning about the Christian men and women who were faithful in serving God as they led our great nation.

"We love, because God first loved us."

We had a lovely day from beginning to end.  Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to "mail" their cards this morning.  I received so many cards, pictures and yummy candies that I warned the children I may become the biggest teacher ever, once I have eaten everything...they laughed and laughed!  We ended the day with a sweet Valentine's party.  Thanks so much to Mrs. Glockle and Mrs. Duffield for using their creative talents to provide a fun time for the class.  Everyone enjoyed the heart-shaped cookies, juice and darling "sign language" craft.  It was a joy to see God's love in our classroom in such a tangible way.  Let's remember to "Love one another", all year long.

Literature

My class has enjoyed so many nursery rhymes and books this year.  Recently we read the book, The Three Little Kittens by Paul Caldone.

Then we enjoyed the Nursery Rhyme, Little Miss Muffet.

This week we read the book, The Missing Tarts by B. G. Hennessy.  The boys and girls did a fabulous job of illustrating each story.
